Notes

Attended Ash Vale school. Enlisted together with his school friend Robert Hacken. HMS Hampshire was sunk by a mine off the Orkney Islands with Lord Kitchener on board.
His name is recorded on the Ash war memorial, as well as the Portsmouth war memorial.
Note the Royal Marines record suggests a birth date of 1894 so he probably lied about his age to enlist which was fairly common at the time.
