On 26 Feb 1849, William was convicted of "Larceny by servant" at the Central Criminal Court (Old Bailey) in London. He stole 1lb of butter, value 10.5d (equivalent of £2.44 in today's money), from his master Henry James Brown. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 1 month in prison.
William's photo was taken by Joseph Jacklett who was a successful photographer in Aldershot between 1875 and his death in 1892. The photograph is a black and white photo that has been coloured with paint.
Kelly's Directory of Hampshire and IOW of 1898 identifies a greengrocer at 28 Grosvenor Road Aldershot as William Boraman and Son, which was presumably in existence prior to his death in 1888.
Harrod and Co's Directory of Hampshire and IOW of 1865 identifies a greengrocer in North Town as William Boraman.
William died at home in 1888 from a strangulated hernia, witnessed by his step-son Arthur Milne.
